Monkey see, monkey do- sympathetic magics

I'm sitting here at the park, on a beautiful morning, watching the kids playing. A little girl has joined in their play, mimicing their every action. Mimicry is important, powerful and simple magic.

When you need or desire something, try acting it out. It is an elemental way to create reality. If you want a house, make a model of it. If you want to lose weight, draw a picture of a slim new you. Need money, write yourself a check. Want to get married, try on a piece of wedding attire. The more simple and literal the mimicry, the more powerful the message.

Kids mimic adults to teach themselves how to be. It is a beautiful, simple and power filled act to bring a new reality into being. Try it, you will be suprised.

Bird Omens- Mourning Doves

Depending on which set of bird omen interpretations you use, the mourning dove can symbolize coming good fortune or sorrow.

I have a mourning dove who has decided to nest in a hanging pot of lemon verbena on my third floor balcony, after mating on the porch light. Her clutch is a pair of tiny pale blush eggs. She has left the nest only to defend it for nearly a week. She tolerates my comings and goings, as is calmer if I talk to her while I'm out there, watering the plants or doing the laundry.

Morning doves can symbolize romance and marriage, or it can symbolize motherhood, or a fighting pair can foretell a lovers spat. Some people believe the mourning dove to bring tidings of death with her mournful call. A nest brings good fortune or babies.
